Wire Trap Connectors for Lighting Applications

GCT range of easy to use, surface mount wire trap connectors for lighting applications, includes 2.40mm and 4.00mm pitch options in one, two and three contact designs. You have a choice of PCB footprint size and power options to suit your lighting design.

To insert the wire, simply push stripped wire into the connectors*, a slider button allows easy extraction of wire for service or repair.

Natural LCP insulators make the connectors more discrete and less likely to reflect light in applications with LED and white PCB's.

BL300 on 2.4mm pitch accepts 24-20 AWG stranded wire, rated at 4Amps with 22 AWG wire. PCB footprint for a two contact version is a tiny 5.20mm x7.90mm, with a height of 3.60mm. The 4.00mm pitch BJ302 accepts 22-20 AWG stranded wire conductors or 24-18 AWG solid wire conductors. Current rating for BJ302 using 18 AWG cable is 8A. The PCB footprint for a two position connector is 7.45mm x 11.80mm with a height above the PCB of 4.50mm.

Family

Pitch

Distance between connector pin centrelines. For dual row products pitch defines distance between both pins and rows. Note 0.8 x 1.2mm (0.31” x .047”) is the exception to this rule.

Gender

Male headers with exposed pins and female sockets with insulated non-exposed contacts.

Mount Type

Termination method of soldering connector onto PCB.

PCB Orientation

Defines the orientation which a connector sits on the PCB. Vertical (straight) is 90° to the PCB, right angle (horizontal) is 180° to the PCB. Use the appropriate mating connector pairs for parallel, co-planar and right angle PCB mating configuration.

Socket Entry Type

Searches female connectors only and displays whether header pins may enter from above (top entry), from below with appropriate holes in PCB (bottom entry) or from both above and below (dual entry). See drawings for details of PCB layouts required for bottom entry connector mating.

Socket contact type", "Searches female connectors only. Two contact types: ‘Leaf Spring’ and ‘Tuning Fork’, both offer two points of contact with mating header pins. ‘Tuning Fork’ is the lower cost option, with higher insertion and extraction force, suitable only for top entry applications. ‘Leaf Spring’ is lower force contact and suitable for top, bottom & dual entry applications. For higher number of mating cycles choose ‘Leaf Spring’.

Profile

The profile of connectors above the PCB. Vertical connectors denote the stacking profile in parallel PCB applications, right angle connectors denotes height above the PCB.

Polarisation

Polarisation allows connectors to be plugged together in only the correct mating orientation. Achieved by a polarisation cutout or ‘key’ on PCB headers and raised polarisation bump on female connectors. Select both ‘key’ and ‘bump’ to view all polarised parts.

Insulator Colour

Standard board to board connector range is black, white insulators used for White Lite range for Solid State Lighting (SSL) applications.
